This is a guide to help you in your selection of sets and mahjong accessories. We also provide you with help when you need to get extra tiles for your sets. Everything will be listed in alphabetical or reverse alphabetical order.

Your first decision is if you want a vintage set. (Of course the answer hopefully is yes, and that doesn’t mean you can’t get another newer set too!) If you want a book to guide you about the types of older bakelite sets, we suggest Mahjong is for The Birds, by Gregg Swain and Susan West, available as an ebook or printed on 8 1/2 X 11″ paper and held together with a coil. You can buy one on www.mahjongmahjong.com.

Here are our suggested specialty sellers and their email addresses or shop links. We are not including big box retailers because you already know those.
